4th of July Tailers – Fishing for Redfish in Georgetown & Pawleys Island, SC

Had 5 good nights of tailing tide the week of the 4th and only got run off by weather once! These were some of the best tides I can remember with the slowest of nights still presenting plenty of shots at tailing fish. Gulp shrimp rigged weedless have been very productive artificial baits in the grass. Crab flies that resemble fiddlers have been getting the best action on the long rod. Here’s a bait that berkley makes that caught my eye last week – it is called Berkley Powerbait jerk shad. This thing looks more like a finger mullet than any artifical bait I’ve seen yet. The first tailing fish we pitched one of these to pounced on it immediately. Please click on an image for full size viewing.
