The 3rd Annual Lowcountry Tarpon Tournament was held this weekend in Georgetown, SC. My friend Cheech caught his first SC tarpon while fishing the tournament with me and Capt Douglas Miller. The fish was subsequently fitted with a satellite tag by members of the Bonefish & Tarpon Trust. We will get 2 years of locational data from this fish. Very cool stuff. Please visit www.lowcountrytarpon.com and consider participating next year.
Aside from tarpon fishing, the redfish and trout bite is really good right now when conditions allow you to access the right areas. We’ve been catching plenty of them on live shrimp, mullets, mirrolures, doa shrimp, and some on fly. This is without a doubt my favorite time of year.
Here’s some video from the tarpon… Tarpon Video Click Here
Click on the images to view them in full size – thanks for taking a look and have an excellent fall on the water and in the woods!!!
Mullet run in full swing – if you see this, I promise there is a tarpon somewhere close by.
