Captain Jay NelsonGeorgetown, Debordieu, & Pawleys Island,  SC Fishing Charters – Specializing in Sight Fishing & Fly Fishing

I’m a native of Pawleys Island, SC and have spent countless hours exploring the area marshes, rivers, and wetlands. My father and grandfather had a fishing pole in my hands by age 2 and taught me to catch largemouth bass, redfish, flounder, and sheepshead. Over the years, my love for fishing and all-things-outdoors has transformed from a passion into an all-out obsession. I have a deep respect and appreciation for our local eco-system here in Georgetown, SC and for the resources we’ve been gifted. While catching fish is always the primary objective, it is the area’s surroundings that make each trip on the marsh so special. Not only am I a guide, but I’m also a freelance photographer. I will go out of my way to document your trip with great photography.

I was raised in a good Christian home that instilled in me the family values that I hold to this day. I’ve been blessed with a gorgeous wife and two amazing daughters – both kids are bona-fide creek rats. With each fishing trip, I will give you some insight into what makes the Lowcountry the best spot on the map!

Here I am getting a lesson on how to clean redfish and sheepshead from my father in the early 80’s. This was long before slot limits were put into place. Now days we practice CPR – catch, photo, release. And another picture with my grandpa “Pop” about to release a couple to the frying pan. He was always rockin’ the Braves cap!
