Spring 2018 – Fishing in Georgetown, SC

The long anticipated summer season is finally upon us. This was the coldest winter I can remember since the 1980’s with lots of ice and even measurable snow, which took its toll on the estuary fish. Finally, the water has warmed, and the bait has returned to the creeks, setting up some great inshore fishing for redfish and flounder.

Winter Fishing and Marsh Hen Hunting – Georgetown and Debordieu

It’s been an awesome fall and winter season in the marshes around Georgetown and Debordieu. The redfish have are schooling in the shallows with the lower water temperatures and the water clarity has been great. We’ve also had some good tides for marsh hen hunting. The remainder of the winter season should offer good fishing, hunting and opportunities for harvesting oysters and clams during your trip if you’re a shellfish lover.

Georgetown, Pawleys Island and Debordieu Fishing Charters Report – Summer 2016

It’s been a great Summer in the salt marsh. The weather has been beautiful and the redfish and flounder bite have been as good as ever. We’ve been catching redfish in the shallow water around Georgetown on gulp bait, topwater lures, fly tackle, and on live baits. The trout bite is firing-up now and the best season for fly fishing for reds is upon us. Can’t wait to see what the fall season has in store. Call any time if you’d like to book a trip or talk about fishing charter options around Pawleys, Georgetown, and McClellanville.

Tight lines,

Capt. Jay Nelson

Pawleys Island Fishing Charters and Georgetown / Debordieu Fishing Report

Fishing has been red-hot throughout the month of June. The redfish bite in Pawleys Island and Georgetown has been consistent and plenty of flounder have been caught. Summer is an awesome time for topwater redfish and for fly fishing for tailing redfish in the saltwater creeks, estuaries and flooded spartina grass. The tarpon should also show up soon! Stay tuned friends – and tight lines!

Early Spring Fishing Report – Debordieu, Pawleys Island, & Georgetown

Early spring has gotten off to a great start in the marshes. Georgetown and Pawleys have experienced unseasonably warm weather and the fish have been biting fairly well during what is historically a difficult time of year to fish. The fly fishermen have had luck on shrimp and crab patterns while the bait fishermen have been throwing live minnows on jig-heads. We’ve also been spending some time in the freshwater, deep in the cypress, chasing largemouth bass. If you are planning a vacation in the Pawleys Island, Debordieu, or Georgetown areas, make sure to call ahead to plan a day on the water. Tight lines, anglers!

Fly Fishing Georgetown & Debordieu Winter 2015

The fly fishing in Georgetown and Debordieu has been great as we close out the 2015 season. Higher-than-normal air temperatures have kept the waters warm and the redfish and sea trout are happy! The start of the 2016 season should be better than average due to these warmer temperatures. The marsh is a beautiful place in the winter months, allowing for  some great clamming, oystering, and birding when you are tired of catching fish. If you have an interest in harvesting some oysters during your winter fishing trip, just let us know ahead of time.
