Slipped down to the Mosquito Lagoon in Oak Hill, FL this weekend with friends Douglas and Craig. We had summer-like weather and calm winds which allowed us Lagoon novices an opportunity to do some exploring. We picked at the redfish and landed some nice flounder. We also caught jack crevalle, bluefish, and ladyfish – not glamour-species by any means, but fun to catch on plugs and spoons. We saw some big redfish schools and gigantic trout. You can get to the Lagoon from Georgetown in 6 1/2 hours if traffic cooperates. I recommend this trip to anyone wanting a low-maintenance Florida fishing trip on a budget. Call me if you need contact info for a good charter captains or a place to stay on the Lagoon.
