Early Spring Fishing Report – Debordieu, Pawleys Island, & Georgetown

Early spring has gotten off to a great start in the marshes. Georgetown and Pawleys have experienced unseasonably warm weather and the fish have been biting fairly well during what is historically a difficult time of year to fish. The fly fishermen have had luck on shrimp and crab patterns while the bait fishermen have been throwing live minnows on jig-heads. We’ve also been spending some time in the freshwater, deep in the cypress, chasing largemouth bass. If you are planning a vacation in the Pawleys Island, Debordieu, or Georgetown areas, make sure to call ahead to plan a day on the water. Tight lines, anglers!

Early Winter Report – Debordieu Fishing – Fly Fishing & Inshore Fishing Charters in Georgetown

The fishing was dynamite this week! Every day of Thanksgiving week offered-up great weather, unseasonably warm temperatures, and excellent fishing around Debordieu and Georgetown. The redfish were cruising in small schools and were eager to take flies, artificials, and live bait. After a discouraging flood event in Georgetown, it was good to get out and finally start catching double digits of redfish every trip this week. The water temperatures are still warm enough to offer solid fishing conditions through Christmas. I’m really excited about the months ahead.

Jan 28th 2011 – Surgeon Scott – Georgetown, SC Fishing Charters

Broke away from baby-duty for a couple hours on saturday to get my friend Scott on the water for a bit. This guy has been living in Georgetown for less than a week and is already out sampling the best of what our town has to offer. Scott is the new spinal surgeon for the community – glad to know someone who can fix my back when it goes out on me from pushing the boat around so much. We had yet another unseasonably warm January day with temps almost in the 70’s. You know you’re having a warm winter when the alligators are out sunning in January. Hopefully this will be good for our trout population that took such a hit the last couple of winters.

Fish are biting – hope everyone has a chance to get out there this winter!
